Day 30

Penultimate day. (Just look it up, okay?) The marathon is once more nearly over. It looks like I am going to succeed one more time at least. So here is another flash fiction. I’ve never liked flash fiction…I’m starting to find it fun. Maybe I’ll try it again, but probably not for tomorrow’s entry.

IT’S SCIENTIFIC

“It’s scientific.” Norman didn’t look up at her; he was lost in his own world, his own project.

“Scientific? Which science? Chemistry? Physics? Maybe Astrology?” Diane didn’t try to keep the sarcasm out of her voice.

“Biology, of course. DNA and all that. I read a study.” Norman dropped his pen. “Get outta my light. You don’t belong here.”

“Where? In my office? Which you have taken over?” Diane moved toward her desk, ready to throw him out. He stood and put up his fists.

“You can’t beat me boxing.” He smirked. “Champion boxer at my high school.”

“How about…wrestling?” She decided to offer him a choice. “Judo? Karate? Arm Wrestling? Pinkie war?”

“Pinkie war? Just like a woman.” Norman sneered. “I think…wrestling. Baby, you made the biggest mistake of your life. I’m gonna pin you, and then I’m gonna show you the science. Men are simply bigger, smarter, and stronger than women.”

“I’ll give you the bigger. And the stronger.” Diane caught him in a chokehold before he was able to pin her. “Champion wrestler in college.” She held him until he begged for mercy, then opened the door and shoved him out. “But I will not accept that men are smarter.” She slapped her hands together and returned to her desk. At least he warmed the seat for her.
