Day 24

It’s been a busy day today. I’m glad I got time to sit down at my computer and write the piece I promised to write. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any ideas, so I edited some of my other works while I waited for inspiration. You might wonder why I didn’t have any ideas; after all, there are a lot of things happening to women out there every day. And you are right. But sometimes working one of them into a writing for my post is difficult. What shall I write about? There are so many things. What form? Will I write a short story? An essay? A play? A poem? Tonight I decided to write about destiny, and how it often slips through the fingers of women, even women who are quite deserving of meeting their destiny. And I decided…a poem. So here it is.

DESTINY CALLED MY NAME

 Destiny called my name.
I answered…I was ready.
I worked, I studied.
I followed the rules.
I was top in my class.|
I won awards.
The class clown
Filled my destiny.

 Destiny came to call.
She wanted to explain.
“I made a mistake.
You are strong.
You are smart.
You have what it takes.
But I forgot, in the blazing light
Of your abilities.
Destiny is only allowed to
Call for boys.”
