Day Twenty Eight

There hasn’t been much good news lately. The current goal of the president to dismantle the government is proceeding rapidly, and he is removing the achievements of women and minorities from our museums, our schools, and any other place he sees them. He is at war with America; he is at war with women; he is at war with everyone. So it’s difficult for me to think through much of what I want to say, because there is so much…so much more than ever.

Is that what you hear
When we talk about equality?
Is that what you interpret
Our words as sounding like?
I see you say online
Women say blah blah.
Is this a euphemism?
Or is this simply how you feel
About the idea of women
Regaining lost rights
And retaining the ones
We still have?
Blah.
Blah. Blah. Blah.
To me, that is the sound
Of the patriarchy
Celebrating the continued assault
On the rights of women.
