Women's Writes

Well-behaved women seldom make history.

Day 3

You know how some days you have something you need to do, but it’s hard to get started? This is one of those days. In fact, everything was hard to get started today, from the moment my cat walked on my head to wake me up to the moment I sat down at the computer to write. I have ideas, actually, that wasn’t my problem. I didn’t have much time, because I was getting phone calls, each calling while I was still on the phone, like some deranged chain talker. And tomorrow’s my anniversary, so I wanted to wrap some gifts. But I owe it to you, my readers, to keep my promise. I owe it to women. I owe it to myself. So here are four (yes, four!) Haiku. That probably just doubled the amount of Haiku I’ve written in my entire life, so if they aren’t up to snuff, understand I am not typically a writer of Haiku. But when it comes to writing, hey, I’ll try anything once…or maybe even four times.

Four Haiku for Women

 Life starts at forty
Someone told me long ago.
They were not female.

 If you are not wed
You are not a full woman
My mother told me.

 I went to high school
To learn whatever I could.
They taught me Home Ec.

Phys Ed is not fun
When you have to kick the ball
In blood stained gym shorts.
